Appearance vs Substance
One plain and simple reason BHO is having so much difficulty in selling us on his/Congress’ plan to tear down and rebuild our healthcare plan is the difference between appearance and substance. The President cares much more about the appearance of the matter… adding “Healthcare Reform” to his resume… than he cares about the details of the plan and how it will actually WORK. His entire resume is filled with similar “accomplishments.”
As many of us pointed out during the campaign, BHO’s resume was as thin as it was impressive… ’superficial’ would not be an unfair description. Impressive undergrad at prestigious Columbia… but where’s the beef? Impressive Law School… and then takes a job as a community organizer… First Black President of Harvard Law Review… nothing anyone remembers about his term. Was the founding President of Chicago’s Annenberg Challenge… the Organization’s own report lists it’s failures and admits it did not succeed in any of its goals. Illinois Senate… no major accomplishments other than giving us the joke of “voting PRESENT.” US Senator… wrong about Iraq, wrong about Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, but “Senator Obama” used the position to become President. We said at the time he had accomplished nothing while his supporters pointed to his “impressive” resume. The trouble is there was no ‘there,’ there.
So it is with his Presidency. Not caring about the details of his “climate change” legislation… only that he could list it on his resume… he allowed the House to take care of the details… He had no real idea what was even in the bill. Not caring about the details or effectiveness of healthcare reform legislation… again he has little idea of what is in the various proposals, (which leaves him open to accusations of being dishonest when he’s assuring people what is/will be part of the bill), no real interest to mix it up with Congress, but AGAIN, his only real interest is in what will appear on his resume.
America certainly got what we voted for… an impressive resume extremely thin on substance, what some . An ambitious BHO takes office with his impressive laundry list of issues to tackle, yet he has no interest in helping make the sausage. His only interest is that his name is on the label when the package is complete. For this reason… his preference to appearance over substance… that his Presidency will fail… I pray he doesn’t take the country with him.
For those who think these words are to harsh, read the bills… the actual language, not the pretty campaign rhetoric. Look at the substance of the bill, not the style of the man selling it. Any intelligent reader will see, time after time, in the words proposed to become law, mandates that are in direct opposition to what The President is telling is. If you do that, you will eventually ask yourself, “Is he lying or is being hoodwinked by Congress?” If you don’t do that, and you support the President, don’t be surprised when the final bill doesn’t deliver what The President promised.
I don’t think the President is lying about what he wants. He probably is not being entirely honest with himself, and he probably pats himself on the back a bit too much about the bragging points he adds to his resume… but the heart of the matter is, he prefers style… he prefers Appearance over Substance, coupled with Pelosi and Reid running things? THAT is a recipe for disaster.
