Sheep Dogs
One reason for the surprise on the left over the emotion and energy behind the protests of middle America against the rush to legislation… Stimulus, Cap and Trade and now Healthcare… should have been predicted due to the make-up of the electorate. Of course, the incredible haste that the Democrats are in to get legislation passed, simply fans the angry fire.
But, because of the make-up of the electorate and the general sheepish qualities of the Democrats in power, it shouldn’t be surprising at all that such emotional protests are spreading across the country. The Democrats have kicked the Sheepdogs.
For anyone not familiar with LCOL Dave Grossman’s convention that there are three sorts of people in the world, Sheep, Sheepdogs and Wolves, you can get the heart of the explanation here. But for the purpose of this post, I think it’s fairly obvious that the Sheepdogs have been alerted to danger. Watching the waking Sheepdogs confront the dangers that would come with a Government run healthcare system made me think about the voters in the last election.
It’s not surprising that the vast majority of Sheep were comforted by the One’s words of peace and of Hope and of Change… Transparent, Ethical, Empathetic, Generous, Intelligent, and Humble were all words which soothed the collective flock and they cast their ballots for BHO.
On the other hand, the Sheepdogs saw through the façade of soothing words and looked at the history and actions of the man uttering them. The Sheepdogs smelled danger… they perceived a wolf in sheep’s clothing, and even though many of those sheepdogs didn’t like Senator McCain’s vision, they still voted against BHO. But what of the most intriguing group, the wolves?
I think the Wolves sensed the political winds blowing away from the Sheepdogs, and decided to actively throw their lot in with BHO, a wolf they recognized. (It’s worth pointing out that the non-voting, foreign wolves… Putin, Chavez, Ahmedinijhad.. see BHO as the runt of the litter and are unafraid) At any rate, in the end, BHO got both the Sheep Vote and the Wolf vote, leaving the Sheepdogs baying at the moon, yet still standing by, steadfast as ever, ready to defend the flock from the wolves. What is so disconcerting to the Sheeplike Congressmen about the emotion and tenor of the protests is just the mere appearance of Sheepdogs at Townhall meetings normally attended only by sheep.
The fact that the Sheepdogs are vocal and unafraid of confrontation has these Legislators falling back into a defensive posture. In a very sheeplike manner, they are ignoring the threat, and blaming some nebulous Authority figure for inciting the mob. The fact that the legislators are mostly sheep and can only tolerate confrontation within the confines of Capital Hill, has led them to be completely surprised by the appearance of the Sheepdogs. Not only are they surprised, but they are badly misunderstanding the anger. Pelosi and Hoyer are attempting to put the noisy and bothersome black sheep back into line and don’t realize they are dealing with Sheepdogs and instead are simply spreading the alarm to more and more Sheepdogs. The are ignorant to the fact that they are also kicking the older and gentler sheepdogs… those of us like Bruce Kesler at Maggies Farm, whose hackles are raised as he takes a wary posture and in a low, but unmistakable growl, utters, the warning:
I wasn’t a proponent of street violence then, nor am I now. I abhor it. And, just let any one of the Democrat thugs try to physically attack me or silence me or anyone nearby and they better stand the f*ck by for a real thumping. At 61, I still fit in my Marine Corps uniform, and know well how to defend myself. I’m just one member of a rapidly expanding, reluctant force of ordinary Americans who will. Those who have spent their lives cloistered in ivy and Congress have never met our resistance before, are shocked, and are in for more rueful surprises if they keep on their vile attacks on our democracy, peace and prosperity.
That sounds like a pretty good description of the many growling Sheepdogs that have been alerted to the danger of The President’s (Peace be upon him) plans. Yes we are a reluctant force, but we’re also a force the Democrats have absolutely no understanding of. In the end the sheep will realize that the Sheepdog CANNOT harm the sheep, and the flock will run for protection from the wolves, allowing the ever vigilant Sheepdogs to confront the threat. Eventually, more and more of the sheep will begin to realize that the Sheepdogs are indeed growling at a real threat.
